Minutes of the Meeting of the Board of Directors NTM Mensa Scholarship Foundation Meeting: December 5, 1998 Presented: February 11, 1999

The meeting was called to order by President, Debbie Kittenbacher, at 7:40 PM at Humperdink's restaurant on Greenville.
The minutes of the prior meeting were presented by Secretary Barbara De Vries and approved.
Treasurer Roger Durham reported on the account balance of $1,003.00. A check for $300 for last year's winner Amy Grissom has been delivered to her school, the University of Texas at Arlington. The auction from the RG earned $23, Hugh White donated $10.00. This sum was included in the RG deposit. The Kittenbacher's pledged $10.
New Business: MERF, the National Scholarship Foundation has sent 335 letters to Guidance Counselors at high schools. The essays are due January 3 1. The mail list list is obtained from a mailing house in Richardson. One essay has been received so far. The winner will be announced June 1999. Essay judging for this region will take place in February or March. President Debbie Kittenbacher resigns. Vice-President Kat Walston declines to accept the Presidency. Secretary Barbara De Vries accepts the Presidency. Debbie Kittenbacher is nominated and approved as Secretary. Debbie will bring materials to the next meeting to transfer to the new President. Barbara will produce the minutes of this meeting at the next meeting.
The meeting adjourned at 8:10 PM. The next meeting was scheduled for February 3, 1999, same location.

President Debbie Kittenbacher called the meeting to order at 7:15 p.m. The minutes of the last board meeting were read and approved. The Treasurer’s report revealed a balance of $1,303.00. Scholarship recipient Amy Grissom has yet not been sent her check due to the lack of address for delivery.
Secretary De Vries delivered the phone list of donor to President Kittenbacher for follow-up.
Karen Brach, member, needs recipes for a cookbook to be printed as a fund-raiser. Doug Frasier may print the book for free. Roger Durham will investigate.

The NTM Foundation fund-raising auction will be held at the NTM Regional Event RG over the Thanksgiving weekend.
The next Board meeting was set for Wednesday December 3. The meeting was adjourned at 7:45 p.m.

As President Debbie Kittenbacher called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. The minutes of the last board meeting were read and approved. No Treasurer’s report was available.
Debbie still has the donated bicycle to sell. Although the bicycle was appraised by its former owner as $400, since it has been in an accident, the current value is estimated to be $80.
Approximately $450 in revenue was realized from the May garage sale.
Sponsor donations of a gift certificate and calculators have been received for the sale at the Regional event in November.
Barbara will fax the sponsor list to Debbie at 972-669-RUBY. Roger needs the name, address, and school of the scholarship recipient to distribute the check.
The next Board meeting was set for Wednesday October 7. The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 p.m.

As President Debbie Kittenbacher was not present, Treasurer Roger Durham called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. The minutes of the last board meeting were distributed.
As a quorum was not present, no business was conducted.
The next Board meeting was set for Wednesday August 5. The meeting was adjourned at 7:40 p.m.

Attendees: Debbie Kittenbacher, President Kat Walston, Vice-President Roger Durham, Treasurer Barbara De Vries, Secretary John Atchley, NTM Scholarship Chairman
President Debbie Kittenbacher called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. The minutes of the last board meeting were read and accepted. Treasurer Roger Durham reported on the Foundation finances. As of March 31, 1998, the checking balance was $993.85. A bank fee of $5.00 was charged by Nations Bank. The Board unanimously approved the Treasurer’s report.
Old Business: The check from Andy McKeller has been received and is reflected in the reported bank balance. The check for $600 to NTM has been written, but not yet cashed. The anonymous donor check is in the mail. President Kittenbacher will send a thank-you letter.
New Business: The garage sale at the Kittenbacher home will be May 9 this year. Donations will be accepted starting April 25. This will be to raise money for the Foundation. The essays were received and judged. . John Atchley, the NTM Scholarship Chairman discussed the mechanics of the judging. Twelve judges were enlisted, with 3 reading any particular entry. One award of $300 will be presented. A discussion of the essays and criteria for judging and categories ensued. Some judges were liberal, and some very conservative. Due to guidelines, some essays became orphaned due to zip code. Five will be forwarded to the National MERF. A motion was made to approve essay #60, and was defeated. A motion was made to approve essay #65 and passed. The winning essay will be published in the MAURA. The name will be revealed at the next meeting. NTM Scholarship Foundation Board Meeting Minutes Date: February 11, 1998 Location: Yegua Creek Brewery

President Debbie Kittenbacher called the meeting to order at 7:50 p.m. Vice-President Kat Walston was absent due to illness. The minutes of the last board meeting were reviewed prior to this meeting. The minutes were amended to reflect the attendance of Andy McKeller who had pledged a check of support. The minutes were accepted as amended. Treasurer Roger Durham reported on the Foundation finances. The authorized signatures on the checking account have not been updated at the bank, since Nations Bank now requires a copy of the minutes of the board meeting stating the correct signatories. President Debbie Kittenbacher reported that the authorized signatures are to be: Debbie Kittenbacher, President Roger Durham, Treasurer. The Board unanimously approved these authorized signatures. The bank statement at Nations Bank as of 1/30/98 is $1,003.85. The $600. check to NTM has not yet been written pending changing of the authorized signatures at the bank. The foundation has not yet received Andy McKeller’s pledge check. The Board unanimously approved the Treasurer’s report. Old Business: The anonymous donor check is now to be received in late February. Barbara De Vries reminded Debbie Kittenbacher that she sent an acknowledgment letter for the donor to Debbie by e-mail. New Business: The garage sale at the Kittenbacher home will be in early to mid-May this year. We will advertise in the MAURA, pending approval of NTM, and in the Richardson News. We will be sending request for donation letters this year, earlier than last. Barbara De Vries volunteered to do the mailing. President Debbie Kittenbacher requested that it be completed prior to the next Board meeting in April . The RG raffle will be in November. President Debbie Kittenbacher volunteered to do the follow-up phone calls. The next Board meeting was set for Wednesday April 8. The meeting was adjourned at 8:05 p.m. Barbara De Vries Secretary |
